A Few Photos From Chicago So Far

In the photos you will see- Me at the top of Willis Tower 103rd floor, eating Garrett popcorn, touring in in the rain, and eating Chicago dogs!

I am in Chicago with my parents!

Have a fantastic Thursday! I'll tell you more about our trip next week!

Wednesday

Favorite Places- Machu Picchu

I have gotten to go to some awesome places so far in my life. Here are some pictures of when my brother and I went to Peru with our awesome cousin in 2007-

Early Morning at Machu Picchu

The beautiful Incan ruins

Check out those mountains! How did the Incas haul all those stones all the way up here?
Guinea Pig is a popular item on the menu in Peru. Poor little guys. At least they have a nice habitat behind the restaurant before they are cooked.

And there is the Guinea Pig, cooked and ready to be eaten.

Happy Birthday Purse!

I've been using my purple Longchamp purse that I bought in Paris for almost 2 years now!

That should tell you what a durable bag this is. I haven't used only this purse for the past 2 years but I have used is an awful lot.

It makes me so happy to use it and remember where it came from and who I was with when I bought it!

Story Time

One time, my friends Tracey, Dawn and I accidentally took the stairs up the Eiffel Tower!

It was quite a climb and is really funny when we look back on it.

A couple of years ago we got to spend about 24 hours in Paris on our way home from Africa (we went to The Africa Mercy, which is the ship we supported as recruiters for Mercy Ships).

We wanted to make the most of our 24 hours because Paris is amazing and beautiful!

About an hour before the tower closed we arrived and were eager to ride the elevator up! There were a lot of people in line and the other two people we were with said, look that line over there is shorter! We were like, heck yes, we will go to that line. Another bonus when we arrived at the other line was that it cost less on that side of the tower than in the line we were first in. We paid and walked through looking for the elevator.

We quickly realized the reason it was cheaper and lineless. We decided we could handle the stairs and we did but it was not easy!

Once we made it though, it was of course worth it!

Monday

So now for a little more about our trip to New England. Our itinerary looked like this,
Saturday- Fly into Boston, eat dinner
Sunday- See USS Constitution, Drive to Killington, VT
Monday- Ski
Tuesday- Ski
Wednesday- Ski
Thursday- Drive up Route 100 toward Waterbury. End with a tour of the Ben and Jerry's factory! Drive to the Windy Hill B&B in Jackson, New Hampshire.
Friday- Drive to Portland, Maine and explore the coast.
Saturday- Explore the Freedom Trail, visit Harvard, Fly home

It was a GREAT week filled with new sights! Neither of us had been to New England before so we were excited to see the sights. The drive from Vermont to New Hampshire was really beautiful.

We also ate some good food! In Maine I ate some clam chowder and fried shrimp.

And in Boston I had a Lobster Roll! Or as I would call it, a Lobster Po Boy.

It was fun to tour Ben and Jerry's ice cream factory because I loooove Ben and Jerry's. They also gave us a sample. Sadly, when the machine fills the pints with ice cream and then puts the lid on, the machine sometimes spills the pint over. When that happens, a worker just throws all that ice cream away, I would have gladly eaten it.

We stayed at a Bed and Breakfast one night and it was really fun. I've always wanted to stay at a B&B and this was the perfect little spot.

I look forward to going back to New England again some day! I would recommend a trip like this to anyone who is interested in history, loves nature (it is beautiful up there with lots of state and national parks) or likes to eat.

Friday

Killington, VT

Tonight is the last night of our faaaabulous 1 week New England vacation. Here are just a couple of ski pics from our time in Killington, Vermont!

For 4 nights and 3 days, we enjoyed getting up early, skiing hard all day, unwinding in the hot tub each night and going to sleep early early because we were so tired!

Conditions were perfect for skiing, there was hardly any crowd on the mountain and my awesome hubby was there to fix my ski boots for me and carry my stuff:) I don't know how I managed to ski before he was around:)

Of course skiing works up quiet an appetite so we enjoyed lots of chips and queso, ice cream, stouffer's lasagna, coke and kettle corn!

I'll write more about our trip soon!

Tuesday

Visiting our friend, Warren Buffett

Yesterday my husband and I were in Omaha, Nebraska. While we were there we thought we would swing by Warren Buffett's house to see if we could say hi. I think he would appreciate our ambition but he wasn't home, bummer!
Buffett is the third richest person in the world and lives in a normal neighborhood in the middle of Omaha in a 5 bedroom house that he bought in the 50's. Definitely not a typical house for a billionaire to live in!

Since we do not actually know Warren Buffett and have never met him, I was nervous when my husband wanted to go ring his doorbell! Somehow he convinced me though and now if we ever do meet Warren we can tell him that we tried to visit him at his house:)
