Glacier Park Lodges

Parkitecture is a term used for the style of the lodges built in the early 1900's in the National Parks such as the Old Faithful Inn and the lodges in Glacier National Park. I love the style of these lodges! Here are photos of some lodges around Glacier!

The Land of Beautiful Water

One of the most surprising things about the Glacier National Park area to me was how pretty the water was. There are miles of sparkling blue rivers full of fish and multiple lakes formed by glaciers which make them deep and blue like you wouldn't believe.

Beautiful Glacier National Park

Glacier is such a beautiful spot! It's amazing to me that there is an area in the USA that is so uniquely beautiful and full of amazing wildlife. Over the next few days I will be posting about Glacier because I can't include all the photos I want to show you in just one blog post!

Matt and I spent a week in a house in Columbia Springs with Matt's mom and dad. We explored Glacier National Park and went to Waterton (the Canadian side of the park!). We explored Whitefish, Polebridge, and West Glacier. This area of Montana is rugged, the rivers and lakes are pristine, and there are bears (currently my favorite animal)!

This is a great area to fish and hike but also to just drive around or sit in a pretty spot to take in the beauty. Whether you are a big adventurer or a tourist this is a great place to visit. You can enjoy the cute western towns around Glacier and see some still unspoiled nature.

The folks that live here full time say that winter lasts a long time up here and the beautiful summers are short lived (Pretty much July and August). I could see myself coming back here again! I think it would be nice to visit again in the summer and possibly in the winter for a little skiing???

Glacier National Park

We've made it to our 10th National Park on our journey, Glacier National Park! It's out of this world pretty for it's alpine and rugged beauty. It also has glaciers! Twenty six if you were curious. The park is not named Glacier because it currently has glaciers but because the land in the park was formed by glaciers.

Our first day in the park we took a Red Bus tour which was a perfect way to see the whole park from the road with a knowledgeable guide! We had an outstanding guide named Glenn! He was great and I learned so much about the park.

We are here with Matt's parents this week! It will be nice to hang with them for several days.

Our tour group got lucky and saw a bear eating away nearish to Many Glacier. I love seeing bears!!

I'm also a fan of the beautiful historic lodges this park has to offer. Here is a photo of the lobby of McDonald Lake Lodge.

Our second day in the park we did some hiking! There is so much to see from the trails that you can't see from the road (although the view from the road is still great!).
