Our LuxeLandYacht is a 1976 Airstream Sovereign, 31' travel trailer. We found this gem on eBay for sale in the state of Illinois and for the right price we had us a project! At the end of the photos is an explanation of how it was transformed from a dilapidated travel trailer, into our new home on wheels.

Replacing Sub-flooring During Renovation |
During the initial 'gutting' of the Airstream, it was kept in a rented parking spot about 20 minutes from our home in Prairie Village, KS. We removed load after load of old cabinets, rotted flooring, window coverings, etc., until it was totally empty. The only original pieces of the Airstream left are the shell, frame, windows, A/C, and the awnings. Most of those things were cleaned and refurbished, everything else was replaced.
The total renovation was a Huge project, but very fun. We found Airforums.com invaluable when researching everything from how to refurbish the windows to polishing.
A few of our favorite highlights of the renovation:
Axles and Wheels
New Subfloor
Windows Refurbished
Emblems Refurbished
Electrical overhaul
Lighting
Plumbing
Tail Lights and Trailer Tongue
Fantastic Fan Vents
Insulation
Flooring
Building cabinets and furniture
Appliances
Furnishings
Polishing
Truck
Generator
